“Come and you will see…” (John 1:39)
Each year St. Cecilia Motherhouse opens her doors to single young women ages 17-30 for retreats. The retreats are directed by priests who share with us their love of the Church. Because space for retreats is limited, it is recommended that those interested call to inquire about openings as soon as dates are made available.

2010-2011 Jesu Caritas Retreats
October 1-3, 2010
March 11-13, 2011
For many years we have hosted Jesu Caritas Retreats. From Friday afternoon until Sunday at noon, guests are provided a monastic experience of prayer, conferences, reception of the sacraments and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. We offer opportunities for retreatants to speak with the sisters and to meet others who have an earnest desire for a deeper relationship with God. Each year a different topic is explored, offering spiritual insight for those seeking to cultivate their love for Christ and the Church.
Past retreat topics include:
- In Hope We Were Saved: Reflections on Spe Salvi
- C.S. Lewis and the Four Loves
- Saint Cecilia: Witness of Faith, Witness of Joy
- By His Mercy Made New
- Duc in Altum: The Depth of Our Faith
- Pope John Paul II’s Call to Personal Holiness
- St. Catherine of Siena
- The Virtues of Faith, Hope and Love
- Devotion to the Blessed Mother
- The Sacred Heart of Jesus
- The Eucharist and the Sacrament of Penance

2010-2011 Vocation Retreats
January 2-6, 2011
May 25-29, 2011
Several times a year we host Vocation Retreats specifically for those who are discerning a religious vocation. Over the course of five days, young women explore the life and charism of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia.
Those on retreat attend conferences on:
- Discernment and the formation process
- The spirituality of the Order
- Marian devotion
- St. Dominic
- The Divine Office
- The apostolate
Our guests pray the Divine Office, attend Mass, and join in community activities with the sisters. Times for adoration, silence, and reception of the Sacrament of Penance are also available. There are opportunities to meet both the sisters in the novitiate and some of the professed sisters, as well as times to recreate with other sisters in the community. A tour of several schools of the Congregation is included. While on retreat, vocation direction is available for those who wish to speak further about discernment and the call to religious life.
